To provide faster and more precise support to our partners, we have significantly upgraded our Quality Control Laboratory at the MIKROPAKK BLACK facility in Salgótarján. Through a EUR 130,000 investment, we have commissioned a Hexagon 3D Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and a Micro-Vu Vertex Optical Measurement System, enabling 100% dimensional inspection with micron-level accuracy.

Having utilized these systems extensively in our Budapest laboratory, we have successfully transplanted this proven, production-ready technology to our Salgótarján plant. With the increasing volume of New Product Introductions (NPI) and mold trials requiring immediate, high-precision verification on-site, this development establishes crucial local capacity.
The investment extends beyond hardware: our team completed an intensive, specialized operator training course for the Hexagon CMM, ensuring they can support production and product launches autonomously and to the highest standards from day one.

Precision: the foundation of quality manufacturing
Whether validating injection molds or performing 100% dimensional inspection of pre-production samples, precise measurement is the basis of professional operations.
Our customers rightfully expect every parameter of a manufactured product to strictly conform to approved technical drawings and CAD models. We validate this conformity through 100% micron-precision inspection following trial runs.
While manual gauges often suffice for in-process checks, the trial runs demand superior precision. Complex geometric parameters—such as GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) or intricate internal contours—are challenging to verify with manual tools and often lack the required repeatability.
For such components, Hexagon and Vertex measurements are now integrated into our daily workflows, supporting in-process quality control, First Article Inspection (FAI), and mold trial evaluations.
Results of these 100% inspections are delivered in detailed measurement reports, covering all dimensions and tolerances. As this documentation is a prerequisite for Part Production Approval Process (PPAP) at our partners, we ensure data is presented in a transparent, easily auditable format.
Accelerating product launches locally in Salgótarján
Previously, high-precision measurements for product launches and tool trials at the Salgótarján site required logistics coordination with our Budapest laboratory. Transporting samples between sites increased lead times and slowed down the approval process.
With these new onsite metrology systems, critical dimensions are verified immediately at the production source. This allows for instant feedback and rapid implementation of necessary corrections. The new capacity measurably reduces the NPI cycle time and enables the evaluation of tool trials based on fast, objective data.

Hexagon 3D Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
The Hexagon CMM enables the micron-precision measurement of complex geometries.
This mechanical, 3-axis system utilizes a tactile probe to capture data points along the workpiece. The machine records the 3D coordinates of each contact point to calculate dimensions, tolerances, and geometric deviations.

Micro-Vu Vertex Optical Measurement System
The Vertex system complements our capabilities by enabling micron-precision measurement of complex features via non-contact methods.
Vertex is a camera-based automated vision system utilizing precision optics and LED illumination. Its advanced image-processing software automatically detects edges, contours, and bores to calculate dimensions. The system features zoom optics with up to 400x magnification, multi-directional lighting, and fully automated measurement routines.

Controlled environment for maximum accuracy
A key advantage of both systems is the elimination of deformation caused by excessive clamping force. Furthermore, to exclude thermal expansion errors caused by handling or environmental fluctuations, all inspections are conducted in a strictly temperature-controlled metrology room.
While both instruments operate in the micron range, the choice of equipment is defined by geometry and efficiency. The Hexagon CMM excels at measuring complex internal features, while the Vertex system offers rapid assessment of overall profiles—such as circularity—with minimal setup time.
We deploy the instrument—or a combination thereof—that yields the most accurate and reliable data for the specific task.

Redundancy and consistency: ensuring continuous operation
By mirroring the equipment capabilities of our Budapest laboratory at the MIKROPAKK BLACK facility, we have achieved full interchangeability. This investment not only brings high-precision measurement to Salgótarján but also balances the workload of the Budapest laboratory.
Operating two identical, interchangeable metrology suites ensures that equipment downtime never compromises our service delivery. Should demand surge at one location—or in the event of maintenance—the twin system at the partner facility serves as an immediate backup, ensuring project continuity in both directions.
We consistently align our developments with customer needs and production volumes, building capacity where it generates the most value. This new 3D and optical measurement capability offers new opportunities for partners requiring 3D inspection as part of standard in-process quality control, a requirement we can now serve with greater flexibility.
For customers connected to our Salgótarján production, this translates to a tangible upgrade in quality assurance: faster approvals, reduced lead times, and enhanced measurement reliability.
